MPO Honors Retiring County Engineer

At their Governing Board meeting held July 20, the MPO recognized George Webb, PE, who retires in August after 26 years in the position of Palm Beach County Engineer. In those years since 1991, Palm Beach County's population has grown from 871,561 to almost 1.5 million. Mr. Webb has been a dedicated and collaborative partner to the MPO throughout his career!

National "Faces of Transportation" Photo & Video Contest

Deadline for entries is August 25, 2017

The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) is accepting photo and video entries for this 12th annual competition that offers cash prizes. Multiple categories exist for amateurs and professionals. Click for the news release or the Faces of Transportation website for details.

The municipalities of Lake Worth, Lantana and Hypoluxo are the focus of the July public events for the MPO's mobility study to recommend improvements for pedestrians, cyclists and transit users along the US-1 corridor. Open house charrettes continue through Wed., July 26,and will end with a final presentation. Check the project website for complete details and for the schedule of upcoming events including West Palm Beach from August 26-30.

Section 3 - MPO US-1 Corridor Study

The MPO conducted a July 22 public workshop for Lake Worth, Lantana and Hypoluxo. Participants went on a walking tour to audit existing facilities and needs, and were part of group exercises to conceptualize potential improvements. Palm Beach County Administrator Verdenia Baker provided a presentation on the County's Road Impact Fee program to the MPO Governing Board on July 20, 2017. Joining her at the table were (L-R) new County Engineer David Ricks, Chief Assistant County Attorney Lenny Berger, and retiring County Engineer George Webb.

  • All Aboard Florida/ Brightline Rail Construction
    Construction continues on all three of All Aboard Florida's south Florida train stations including the West Palm Beach station where Brightline service is scheduled to begin this year.
     
  • Public Notices for FDOT District 4
    Click here for public notices for District 4 which Includes the following counties: Palm Beach, Broward, Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River
  • Flagler Memorial Bridge Construction Nearing Completion
    The North Bridge should open to four lanes of traffic by mid-to-late July. The former Flagler Drive overpass has been replaced with an "at-grade" intersection including new lighting, pedestrian features, traffic signals, drainage and landscaping.
  • Southern Blvd. Bridge Replacement Construction
    This project, which began in April 2017, includes replacing the existing bascule (draw) bridge and tide relief bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway and Lake Worth Lagoon between the Town of Palm Beach and the City of West Palm Beach. New decorative lighting, pedestrian features, traffic signals, signage and drainage are included. A temporary bridge will be built north of the existing bridge to maintain traffic while the replacement bascule bridge is under construction. Construction is scheduled to last until late 2020.
