Request Copies of Bike Suitability Maps from the MPO

The new MPO bike suitability map indicates the bicycle level of service for roads within Palm Beach County.

The easy to read map indicates how comfortable a bicyclist may feel based on roadway speeds, traffic volumes and the amount of space provided for bicyclists to operate.

Please email Info@PalmBeachMPO.org or call 561-684-4170 to request copies.

Conference of Minority Transportation Officials Forms Local Chapter

More than 60 people employed in various modes of transportation gathered in December to learn more about the formation of a local chapter for the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO). Palm Tran Executive Director Clinton Forbes serves as a member of the National Board of COMTO. Palm Tran transit planner Bruce Guyton has been selected as President of the new Palm Beach County chapter, which already has 43 members. In addition to providing members with quality training programs and a productive networking environment, the local chapter will advocate and support sound, rational transportation policies for all modes of transportation, focused on the municipal, county and state levels. Click for information about the organizational meeting. Email Bruce Guyton to join or for more information.

Century Village Mobility Fair - Boca Raton

Although the wind and rains were less than ideal for an outdoor event on Feb. 22, the MPO and several transportation partners set up exhibits and spoke with Century Village residents in Boca Raton. MPO Governing Board member and Boca Raton Council Member Robert Weinroth attended the event, which also featured a mobile drivers license van. Residents who drive were offered an opportunity for volunteers of the CarFit program to inspect lights and signals on their vehicle, and to inspect and offer suggestions on adjustments for seats, seatbelts, pedals, mirrors and the steering column to maximize safety. CarFit is a program of the Florida Dept. of Transportation, AAA, AARP and the American Occupational Therapy Association.
